Case Study: Living Lighting
METROPOLIS worked with Living Lighting and their agency, Quiller and Blake, to develop an online catalog and promotional website to support Living Lighting’s chain of franchised retail outlets.
While not an actual e-commerce site, LivingLighting.com does support their retail and franchise operations by allowing customers to browse inventory, learn about products, and save preferences. We also help to streamline operations, elevate the in-store experience, and reach out to customers with online promotional activities.
Dynamic Catalog & Customized Content Management Systems
Managing a catalog of inventory is challenging for any retail operation, and is particularly so for franchise organizations whose outlets might not all carry the same products.
METROPOLIS worked with Living Lighting and Quiller and Blake to design, develop and deploy an online catalog that would categorize and display product info, and allow Living Lighting employees – with minimal web skills – to manage and update the site.
Our Custom CMS allows Living Lighting to manage their online catalog:
- Product Info Photo, product name, description, SKU #, dimensions and other details
- Categories Manage display categories and subcategories
- Search & Sort By category, style or manufacturer



Designer’s Circle, Customer Account and CRM Database Application
We created a customer relationship management application that allows customers to save preferences, receive special offers, search and sort information, plan their lighting layout, and manage their e-newsletter account. The application also reviews customers’ favourites and suggests similar or complimentary products.

Contests & Promotions, E-newsletter Campaigns and Administrative Processes
We developed a number of other interesting features, functions and widgets that allow Living Lighting to engage their customers and streamline operations.
- Contests and Online Promotions METROPOLIS executes several contests a year for Living Lighting.
- E-Newsletter Engine METROPOLIS developed a custom application that would allow Quiller and Blake and Living Lighting to create and manage mailing lists, create and distribute e-newsletters, and review the effectiveness of e-newsletter campaigns.
- Media Warehouse We developed an application that would allow the corporate office and franchisees and to easily manage media assets for advertising programs, promotional events and other marketing activities.



In-Store Motion Graphics
METROPOLIS created a number of animated Flash presentation for display on in-store monitors and screens. The objective was to showcase particular products so that customers could envision them in a real-world environment, and to highlight promotions and specials.
