Case Study: Minto MidtowN
The Minto Group is one of Canada’s leading home builders and real estate developers.
METROPOLIS designed, developed and managed websites and web-enabled applications for a number of Minto’s condominium projects and rental properties.
Midtown was Minto’s marquee development, a high-profile 50+ storey condominium and commercial property at the intersection of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue in Toronto.
Consumer-Focused Website
The site was designed to showcase the property and the individual suites. Over the life of the property’s construction the website went through a number of iterations as the marketing focus evolved from generating awareness and highlighting the building amenities & neighbourhood highlights, to detailing the individual suites that were available in each of the two towers.
Decor Centre: Database Application
Before homeowners take possession of their condominium units they are faced with a myriad of decisions to make on flooring, fixtures, appliances, and finishes. Many of these choices have significant cost implications and are dependant upon other selections.
METROPOLIS developed a robust database application that would allow home purchasers to log into a password-protected website, review the layout of their suite, browse the numerous choices, select and save their preferences, and review a total of the additional costs associated with their choices.
We also built-in administrative controls that would allow a Customer Service Representative the ability to manipulate choices, flag potential issues, schedule appointments and automatically e-mail homeowners.
Motion Graphics and Flash Video
METROPOLIS designed and produced video vignettes for display on large format, high-definition displays in the MintoMidtown presentation centre.

Live Webcam
Minto had a weatherproof webcam installed on the roof of the 50-story building on the opposite corner of the Minto Midtown development.
METROPOLIS created an interface that would allow users to have limited control of the webcam by selecting between presets – the construction site, the intersection of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue, and various other viewpoints. We also coded the camera to return to the construction site at noon each day and to archive a wide-shot of the building, so we could stitch together a time-lapse animation of the building’s construction.
