Case Study: Whichcar.ca
Our objective was to create the premier Canadian site aimed at new car shoppers by giving them the ability to search, compare and save virtually any and all information relevant to that car and to do so in an environment that is inviting, easy-to-use and relevant.
METROPOLIS was involved in every stage of development from branding and corporate identity, to business modeling, creative development, site building, database development, and ongoing management. We also developed marketing support documents, media kits and display materials.
Database driven Consumer-Focused Website
Using data supplied and maintained by AutoData, a vendor specializing in automotive related data, we designed and built an interface that displays an abundance of information in a logical and relevant manner.
METROPOLIS designed, developed, deployed and manages the site.
WhichCar.ca provides a wealth of useful information and functions to Canadian car shoppers:
- Search for Vehicles by make & model, body style, fuel economy, number of seats, engine & fuel type.
- Lifestyle Categories Browse vehicles that are pre-sorted to suite your lifestyle – winter cars, luxury vehicles, family friendly, made in Canada, and numerous other choices.
- View vehicle details View Canadian specs & prices, colours & photographs, technical details, standard equipment and options.
- Compare cars Compare up to 4 cars, including pre-selected similar vehicles, by price, options and other specs.
- Create an account to save searches, favourites, recently viewed cars, receive updates and other preferences.



Custom application development and business tools
METROPOLIS also researched, designed, developed and deployed a suite of business tools that support WhichCar’s online operations:
- Ad serving engine to serve & display ad units, videos, photos and other files based upon various criteria
- Traffic metrics and analytics to review site traffic and other operational metrics, with customized views and permissions for different administrators. This also included integrated cookie tracking and integration of 3rd party analytics code.
- Click-through-tracking and data-tracking of operational analytics, with integration of 3rd party verification code.

Marketing, Presentation and Corp ID Materials
METROPOLIS created the WhichCar logo & media kit and developed marketing presentation materials in PowerPoint and printed formats.
We also developed and executed an online advertising campaign to drive traffic to WhichCar.ca, which included design and coding of ad units, planning and execution of both a Search Engine Marketing and a Display Ad campaign.
